A busy Tuesday morning docket in Crawford County Common Pleas Court included six plea changes, four of which resulted in prison sentences.

The lengthiest prison stay was given to Rodney Barker. The 41-year-old Crestline man was sentenced to seven months in prison following his guilty plea to a fifth-degree felony charge of receiving stolen property. However, Barker’s indictment in that case also meant a charge of violating his community control stemming from another case earlier this year. Barker was given another seven-month sentence in that case.

In accordance with the plea arrangement, Judge Russell Wiseman ordered the two sentences to run consecutively resulting in a total of 14 months with credit for 84 days served in the county jail. Barker must also pay restitution which is yet to be determined. He was also fined $1,250 and court costs.

Rocky McCleese pleaded guilty to breaking and entering. McCleese was sentenced to 12 months in prison for the fifth-degree felony. A second count was dropped in exchange for the plea. McCleese was also fined $750 and costs.

Jesse Dyer was also sentenced to 12 month si prison. Dyer pleaded guilty to third-degree felony burglary. Dyer is already serving a prison sentence on another burglary charge and his new sentence was ordered to be served consecutive to that sentence.

Dyer is also subject to mandatory post release control, was fined $1,250 and costs and must pay restitution of $1,377.

Jeremy Lewis pleaded guilty to the fifth-degree felony charge of purchasing and distributing dangerous drugs. Lewis was sentenced to six months in prison with credit for 81 days served in the county jail. He was fined $1,50 and costs and must surrender all drug-related items to the Bucyrus Police Department.

Ricky Jordan Jr. pleaded guilty to violating his community control by being intoxicated, failing to report and failing to comply with an order for counseling. Jordan was ordered held until he can be placed in an in-patient substance treatment program.

Jordan’s community control was also extended to five years.

Steven Marquis will have to wait to find out the result of his guilty plea. Marquis pleaded guilty to second-degree felony drug possession and four-degree felony drug trafficking. His plea was also taken as an admission to violating his community control stemming from an earlier conviction.

The maximum prison sentences on the two new charges are eight years and 18 months respectively. Judge Wiseman ordered a pre-sentence investigation and continued the case for sentencing until it is complete. Marquis will remain in custody at the county jail until sentencing.

In unrelated cases Kory St. Clair’s motion for a new attorney was granted. St. Clair is charged with first-degree felony robbery and fifth-degree felony drug possession.

Douglas Caudell had an initial hearing on charges of violating community control. Geoff Stoll was appointed to represent Caudell who was given a personal recognizance bond.

Helenia Javens was arraigned on two counts of fourth-degree felony theft of drugs. Javens was also released on a personal recognizance bond and her case was continued.
