A few citizens who went above and beyond their call to make Bucyrus a better place were commended for their efforts at the Bucyrus City Council meeting Tuesday night.
John Kime, Randy Ervin, and Jeff Swearingen were presented with Citizen Awards by Bucyrus Police Chief Dave Koepke for their work with children and efforts in refurbishing bikes for area youths. Koepke noted that the trio began refurbishing bikes when a child returned a lost dog to the Bucyrus Police Department while riding a dilapidated bike. Kime, Irvine, and Swearingen received word on this and fixed the bike up and presented it to the youth.
Both Kime and Ervin were on hand to receive their award from Koepke and Mayor Jeff Reser. Swearingen was unable to attend.
