The last time 44-year-old Torin Jones was in Crawford County Common Pleas Court, he walked out a free man after being found not guilty by a jury of felony drug charges. Monday, he was back in Common Pleas Court via a video feed from the Crawford County Justice Center for arraignment on five more felony drug charges.
Judge Sean Leuthold set bond for Jones at $500,000. He is currently charged with two counts of fourth-degree felony drug possession, two counts of fifth-degree felony drug possession, and one count of third-degree felony drug possession. If found guilty of all charges and given maximum, consecutive sentences for each count, Jones could go to prison for eight years. Attorney Thomas Nicholson was appointed to represent Jones.
In September, a Common Pleas Court jury found Jones not guilty of fourth-degree felony drug possession. Jones was a passenger in a vehicle on Oct. 12 being operated by Brooklyn Gilliland who was wanted on a Crawford County warrant for felony drug trafficking. Gilliland was taken into custody following a traffic stop. Jones was also arrested when a search of that vehicle turned up suspected heroin, cash and prescription medications resulting in the current charges.
